ABC News: Electronic Voting Machines Could Skew Elections
Shit like this infuriates me to the point of speechlessness.
So much for American "democracy". If you're going to vote, vote by absentee ballot! I certainly am going to.
Give me a break. This is exactly how Bush Co. STOLE the 2004 election.

It has been especially interesting that the manufacturer of the voting machines getting the most attention is refusing to approve on programs looking at problems with the equipment.
Interesting, but UNsurprising. Diebold (who I'm guessing is the manufacturer of the machine in this case) is a heavy contributor to the Republican warchest. Not as a company, mind you, but individuals within Diebold do and I think that is technically classified as a "conflict of interest" since employees of government entities or contracts have restrictions on campaign financing. See http://journalism.berkeley.edu/projects/biplog/archive/001786.html
The Daily Show has broadcasts coming up from Ohio this week. They likely will have more "news" about Diebold than the "news" shows have been providing.
The Commentathon is quickly coming to a close, Queen. Will you join me for a visit?
Here's a radical idea. Have everyone vote by putting a X next to the name of their preferred candidate on a printed form. Then they can drop the forms into a locked box until the time comes for them to be counted. And if need be they can be counted and recounted till the exact total is determined. No danger of losing data or computers crashing. And between elections the boxes can be dumped in a closet in City Hall basement. No maintenance, no calibration -- no expense.
